A few words about our honorees (left to right):
BLACK LIVES MATTER-LOS ANGELES is a chapter of the national Black Lives Matter organization, working for the validity of Black life and to (re)build the Black liberation movement, and is a leader in the struggle against police violence.
PROFESSOR HIROSHI MOTOMURA is a progressive professor at the UCLA School of Law, teaching immigration and citizenship law, who is widely acknowledged to be a leading scholar in his field, as well as much beloved by his students.
JOHN RAPHLING is a criminal defense lawyer specializing in defending political activists arrested while protesting repressive and discriminatory government practices, who most recently established the Venice Homeless Citation Clinic, representing those charged with quality of life violations. PROFESSOR
JULIA VAZQUEZ is a member and officer of the Board of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, and a teacher of immigration law, as well as the much-admired Supervising Attorney for the Southwestern Law School Immigration Clinic.
